The first full color combat scene for Zero Haven, featuring Riot and Tempest
Riot just barely managed to lift his gun to block Tempest's scissor-sword, Veles-- though whether Tempest would have actually killed him is another matter...
SO. This is the first pic I've "inked" in a long time, and the linework took maybe 4-5 hours to complete. Then the fun adventure with color began.
I got through my entire base color layer only to realize the style of coloring I was planning wouldn't fit well with the linework, so I had to go redo all the base colors over again, on separate layers. The coloring process took the better part of two days, switching between Painter and Photoshop, but mostly staying in Painter til the end, when I cleaned up in PS and added finishing touches.
Linework and touchups in Photoshop CS Rough sketch and color in Painter X
nice. i like how it has anime feel to it but it doesnt have the standard two-toned cell shading style. great job on that. i like the lighting and the spark effects! nice dynamics
Mmm.. I don't remember what initially sparked the idea, but I guess I couldn't think of any characters that use such a weapon, so it felt like a unique idea

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
